Now this sounds strange does it not?...but here is the REALITY behind the scenes. Before you read this, consider that a RENTAL is like a spider web....to trap you and maneuver you into buying a piano after the rental period, and the bait is THE RENTAL FEE that will be applied to another piano or a new piano (yeah..right!) I am not saying that every dealer will take advantage of you, but..... Sounds Sticky! Right? You bet! Read More and get a heads-up warning just in case:
THE LEADEN ECHO echo, echo, echo:
1. When you rent a piano keep in mind that you are locking yourself into a situation where you HAVE to deal with the rental company on THEIR terms...not yours. 2. Chances are you really don't know if you want to buy the rental piano after the rental term has passed (usually about 6 months). 3. You PROBABLY don't know the value of the rental piano compared to others that may be available. 4. In order to use your equity in the rental fees, you MUST buy a piano from the rental company or loose your rental equity. 5. You are at the mercy of the rental company because it costs the company more money to rent a piano to you than the total rental, delivery and tuning together! This is because rentals are "loss leaders"...something to "nail you to the floor" so they can sell you another piano which will be priced (you can bet on it) to cover your rental equity plus whatever markup the dealer will have on another piano or the rental piano price. 6. So, no matter what you pay in rental, the total rental will always be added to the purchase price of the rental piano or another piano, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!
THE DEALER WILL TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN APPLY ALL OR PART OF THE RENTAL FEES TO ANOTHER PIANO OR A NEW PIANO or the rental piano itself. BUT YOU ONLY HAVE A SHORT TIME TO DO THIS...PROBABLY WITHIN 30 DAYS!!!
THE GOLDEN ECHO, echo, echo, echo: The KeyArts Way!
1. If you need a short term piano then find one that would match the rental fee that you would pay for a rental piano. For example: A dealer offers you a rental piano for $40/mo x 6 months plus delivery= about $400 plus tax. You should be able to find a $400 piano to use for 6-12 months, then sell it and get your money back. KEYARTS HOUSTON HELPS YOU DO THAT!
2. If you really KNOW that you are going to BUY a piano ask for Lay-Away, Financing for no more that 12 months, Use Credit card at low or 0 interest, or JUST BUY A PIANO at the best price available. KEYARTS HOUSTON HELPS YOU DO THAT and has the best prices. Compare before you rent because after you sign the rental contract you will loose your rental equity if you find a better piano at a better price at another store!
3. If you really want a piano and you have a child or and adult musician that really needs a good piano...not just a rental spinet...then choose the least expensive Yamaha or Kawai piano rather than just any old piano. KEYARTS HOUSTON HELPS YOU DO THAT and has the best prices on all models.
Of course I know that sometimes it looks easier to rent, but think about it and learn more about piano quality and piano prices. Once you know which is the best store with the most pianos available and with the best reputation then you have something to base your decision on.
KeyArts Houston is pretty much "it" for price, models, honesty, integrity, compatibility, quality pianos AND none of our customers ever ask for rentals because we have quality pianos that you can purchase with no strings attached except our warranty and quality service...a good "string" to attach.
We will do a rental for you, but we really don't like to give the appearance that we are taking advantage of you. If you do rent from us, we will make sure it is NON-STICKY, no spider webs and that there is no price manipulation behind the scenes.
